About Juneau Times

An independent visitor guide to Juneau, Alaska's capital.

Home / About Juneau Times

Juneau Times is an independent guide for the cruise passengers who spend a day in Alaska's capital each summer, about 1.69 million of them in 2025, and for everyone who flies or sails in to stay longer.

Juneau is a capital city with a glacier, a state Capitol and a rainforest in its backyard, and a port day here goes by fast. We want to help you spend it well: the right way to reach Mendenhall Glacier, a whale tour that fits your schedule, lunch somewhere good and enough history to know whose land the city stands on.

How we work

  • Built around your hours ashore. Plans for 4 hours, 8 hours and overnight, walking times from the docks and weather for your dates.
  • Facts with sources. Hours, fees and seasons come from the operators, the City and Borough of Juneau, the Forest Service and the State of Alaska, and each page lists where they came from and when we checked.
  • Independent. We're not part of the city, Travel Juneau or any cruise line, and no business pays to be ranked.
