Juneau Cruise Port Guide
Which dock you'll use, the AJ Dock shuttle, free wifi, restrooms, accessibility and getting back to the ship on time.

Juneau's cruise docks line the downtown waterfront, and most of them put you within a few minutes' walk of South Franklin Street, the Red Dog Saloon and the start of the Seawalk. The one thing that changes your day is which dock your ship uses: four of them are downtown, and one is about a mile out.
The docks
Your ship's daily program names the dock, and In Port Today will show it once the 2027 schedule is loaded.
| Dock | Where it is | Walk to downtown |
|---|---|---|
| Alaska Steamship Wharf (Dock E) | Next to Marine Park and the downtown library | You're already downtown. City Hall is about 420 feet away. |
| Cruise Ship Terminal, north and south berths | Two city-built floating berths south of Marine Park. The south berth faces the Goldbelt Tram building. | A few minutes. The north berth is about 490 feet from the Red Dog Saloon. |
| Intermediate Vessel Float (Dock C) | Between the Cruise Ship Terminal and Franklin Dock | A short walk. Used mainly for tenders and smaller vessels. |
| Franklin Dock (Dock B) | South Franklin Street, south of the tram | About 10 minutes to Marine Park along South Franklin and the Seawalk. |
| AJ Dock | The farthest south, on the Thane Road side | About a mile. Most people take the shuttle. |
A fifth dock, Huna Totem's Áak'w Landing next to the Coast Guard station at the north end of downtown, is not built yet. Construction was planned to start in summer 2027 for the 2028 season.
The AJ Dock shuttle
From the AJ Dock a shuttle runs into town, stopping at the Goldbelt Tram building and near the Alaska State Museum. Guides disagree on the fare (one says $5, another a $3 day pass), so bring a little cash. You can also walk: it takes about 10 minutes through an industrial stretch before you reach the main waterfront. The city has approved a Seawalk extension to link this end of the waterfront, but it is likely years away. Some tour companies won't pick up at the AJ Dock, so check where yours meets.
Information, wifi and restrooms
- Visitor information: Travel Juneau staffs desks at the Cruise Ship Terminal and the Marine Park kiosk, 8 am to 5 pm daily in the cruise season.
- Wifi: the downtown Juneau Public Library at 292 Marine Way, right by the Cruise Ship Terminal and Steamship Wharf, has free wifi with no password. Cruise Hive reports no free wifi at the Franklin Dock terminal.
- Restrooms and buses: the Downtown Transit Center has public restrooms and is where city buses to Mendenhall Glacier start. See getting to the glacier.
- Taxis wait at the pier heads.
Crowds and construction
Since 2026 Juneau has had a voluntary limit of 16,000 cruise passengers a day, and 12,000 on Saturdays, with no more than five large ships a day. Before the limit, peak days reached about 20,000 to 21,000 passengers. Downtown is still busiest from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, so popular stops are calmer early and late.
Marine Park, between the Steamship Wharf and the library, is being rebuilt from March 2026 to about April 2027. Follow the detour signs, and expect part of the Seawalk to be under renovation.
Accessibility
Travel Juneau says the dock information kiosks are accessible, and it lists the Alaska State Museum, Juneau-Douglas City Museum, State Capitol and Mendenhall Glacier as accessible. Boat tours, flightseeing and fishing trips are only partly accessible, so call ahead. Juneau Taxi & Tours has a lift van that you book ahead, and Care-a-Van runs prescheduled paratransit (907-463-6194). Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL) can help plan: 1-800-478-SAIL.
Getting back on time
Use the all-aboard time in your ship's daily program, and plan to be back 30 minutes before it. If you take the city bus to the glacier, allow up to 1.5 hours each way. From the AJ Dock, leave time for the shuttle. Tours booked through your ship will wait if they run late; independent tours won't, which is why many operators ask for your ship's times when you book. The Juneau Times app has an all-aboard countdown.
